About Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a hands-on form of healthcare that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal problems. Rather than simply treating symptoms, osteopaths aim to identify and address the underlying causes of pain and discomfort.
Osteopathic treatment is based on the principle that the body functions best when it is in good structural balance. By improving the movement and function of muscles, joints and other tissues, treatment can help reduce pain, improve mobility and support the body’s natural ability to recover.
Osteopathy can help people of all ages, from children and adults to older people, pregnant women and those with active lifestyles.
Your Consultation
Before treatment begins, we will take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. This may include discussing your daily activities, exercise habits and any factors that may be contributing to your condition.
We will assess your posture, movement and areas of discomfort to help determine the cause of your symptoms. In some cases, we may recommend further investigations or refer you to your GP if we feel this is appropriate.
Once an assessment has been completed, we will explain our findings and discuss the most suitable treatment options for you.
Treatment
Every patient is different, which is why treatment is tailored to your individual needs and diagnosis.
A range of osteopathic techniques may be used, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, cranial techniques, dry needling and stretching techniques designed to improve movement and reduce tension.
Where appropriate, we may also provide advice on exercises and self-management techniques to support your recovery between appointments.

We are registered with most private health insurance providers. Please check with your insurer before booking to confirm that your treatment is covered under your policy.

FAQ’s
We are registered with most private health insurance providers. We recommend checking with your insurer before booking to confirm that your treatment is covered and whether a GP referral is required under your policy.
You will be required to remove some of your clothing depending on your complaint; however, loose clothing can be worn ie. jogging bottoms or leggings and vest tops.
No, anyone can self-refer to an osteopath. If you are claiming from your health insurance, they may require that you see your doctor before you have treatment.
The number of treatments varies for each individual and depends on many different factors, for example, how long the problem has been going on and lifestyle factors. I will be able to discuss this with you and give you some idea of how many treatments you will need on the first consultation.
Yes, absolutely. Any information given by you is treated with the strictest of confidence. Occasionally, it may be necessary for me to contact your doctor, but this will only be undertaken with your consent.
I appreciate that some circumstances are beyond our control, but a fee may be charged for a missed appointment or an appointment that is cancelled at short notice (less than 24 hours before).
Some people do experience some discomfort after their treatment, but it is usually short-lived; there are others who have no soreness after treatment.
If you have driven to your treatment, there should be no reason why you cannot drive home.
You should be able to continue with your normal daily routine; however, in some instances I would not recommend that you play sport the day of treatment.
